OmegaMe is made from premium grade krill from the Antarctic waters. Krill are tiny shrimp-like crustaceans that live on the bottom of the ocean. Each batch of Krill harvested for OmegaMe has the exact GPS coordinates of where the Krill were caught – 100% traceability, as well as, sustainable harvested (CCAMLR). Due to Krill’s deep water Antarctic habitat, they are at a lesser risk of contamination by polluted waters than other fish commonly used to produce Omega 3 oils.
Superior source of Omega 3
What Makes Krill Fish Oil So Amazing? They are an excellent source of Omega 3 essential fatty acids with a higher ratio of Omega-3 & Omega-6, than regular farmed fish oil. Krill also contains an important antioxidant called Astaxanthin (which regular fish oils do not), and compared with regular fish oil they leave no “fishy” aftertaste. This antioxidant protects the body from oxidative damage, and also acts as a natural preservative for the fish oil in OmegaMe.
Easy to absorb
On a molecular level, Krill oil has a phosphate molecule attached which makes the Omega-3 much more absorbable by the body than regular fish oil.
Phosphatidylcholine is the main phospholipid found in pure krill oil. Choline may help the development of a growing brain and may also aid cognition, memory, and the ability to learn. Time to start adding Krill oil to your diet!
WHAT EXACTLY ARE KRILL FISH?
Krill, are tiny shrimp-like crustaceans that live on the bottom of the ocean. They are not an endangered species. In fact, Krill fish make up the largest biomass on earth – weighing more than the entire human population combined! Krill fish are the primary food source for many species of whale, manta, and shark. Krill harvesting is regulated by the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), which is part of the Antarctic Treaty System. Less than one percent of the krill population is harvested each year.
When it comes to wild caught fish, we believe Krill fish is a superior source of Omega 3, in particular, Krill harvested in Antarctic waters. This is why we chose this source for our OmegeMe product. Not only are these tiny crustaceans very low on the food chain, but they’re sustainable and low in pollutants.
WHY IS OMEGA 3 SO IMPORTANT FOR OUR DIET?
Omega 3 oils are essential fatty acids which the body receives food and supplements. The main two sources of Omega 3’s are fish oil and flax oil. Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for brain health and memory, mood, and hormone balance, and for reducing inflammation in the body. They are also required for the health and functioning of every cell membrane in our body.
Most of us have diets that contain far too many Omega 6 oils (corn oil, soya oil, etc.) and not nearly enough Omega 3’s. Taking a daily Omega 3 supplement helps to correct this dietary imbalance.
Although flax oil is high in Omega 3 EFAs, it can be difficult for the body to make use of the necessary EPA and DHA, as the body is not particularly good at making this conversion. With fish oil, the EPA and DHA are readily available and do not need to be converted by the body. Which is what makes a much more efficient source for these key components.
It is very important to keep in mind that there is a massive difference between farmed vs wild caught fish. Farmed fish has lower levels of Omega 3 oils with higher levels of antibiotics, and can have higher levels of pollutants and heavy metals. Always chose wild caught fish not only for its superior nutrient qualities but also its lack of pollutants and unnecessary antibiotics.
Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers require higher amounts of DHA from fish oil. DHA is required by the fetus and is essential for the development of the baby’s brain, nervous system, and retinas in utero. Postnatal needs are also increased to protect the mother from deficiencies while she still supplies her baby with the necessary DHA through breast milk.
